This post reminds me of posts I've read by kimyoonmiauthor on Tumblr under her worldlit and writing tags, where she talks about writing structures in various cultures which are very different say, from the 3 act structure many English writers take for granted.
There are countless ways to tell stories.
This also reminded me that I've noticed a lot of romances in Asian movies & books (but not all) usually end tragically. Or maybe those are just the ones I've found.
I should check out Rampant- haven't seen that. Having watched a lot of Korean horror, I've been intrigued by sudden shifts of tone or even genre- I tried writing a screenplay that had this flavor but people found it jarring.
